Doug Laird's Annual Ethics & Diversity Program

Doug Laird's Annual Ethics & Diversity Program

Tuesday, June 17, 2025 (11:30 AM - 1:40 PM) (CDT)

Description

First hour (Deposition Ethics) -- Is it a bad idea to text proposed answers to your witness during a remote deposition? Can a deposition question be unethical?

This program will answer these questions and more during a review of the ethical ground rules concerning witness preparation, compensating fact witnesses, and making sure you are behaving at the deposition in a manner so a court will not enter sanctions against you. This one hour of ethics will cover what to do if a client testifies falsely, how to stay within the rules during a remote deposition and what you can and can't say to your client during a break.

Second hour (DEI) --An examination of the current DEI controversy in the context of lawyer CLE training with some discussion about how it may evolve in the future. The program will also review anti-bias training that both supporters and opponents of DEI should support.

RSVP to Jill Bishop by email jbishop@polsinelli.com to reserve a lunch.
